LORRAINE JOHNSTON
I retired early from my career in Health and Safety after I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2008.
I was an ‘arty child’ but never pursued it any further after leaving school.
Since my diagnosis, I have a lot of time on my hands, and decided to join art groups and learn as many skills as possible.
Having paresthesia on both hands, and unable to feel my fingertips, I am delighted when I try to draw or paint a horse or a hare, and it actually looks vaguely like a horse or hare!
With my sense of humour intact, my work is often illustrative in style and makes people smile, and that’s a success story in my book.
Painting and drawing is also extremely good for Nueroplasticity.
Most of my work is in water colour and gouache.
