In Memory of our friend Nancy McJannet
As many of you may already know, one of our long-standing members, Nancy McJannet, sadly passed away recently.
Nancy was born in Maybole and lived in Barassie with her late husband. She leaves behind two daughters and four grandchildren.
After a career in local government (though she continued working part-time) Nancy chose to explore her creative side. Around 12 years ago, she joined Bill Davies’ art class, where she met fellow TAC members Jinty, Lorraine Doak, and Rhona Beatson. She officially joined Troon Art Club in 2019.
Initially working with oils, Nancy soon discovered her natural medium was soft pastels. Her inspiration came from the Ayrshire landscape and the unique light found across Scotland. She was a member of Troon Art Club, Paisley Art Institute, and Ayr Sketch Club, and exhibited regularly in venues such as North Ayrshire Open Arts, Crosshouse Hospital, Electric Brae, Harbour Arts, and New Cunninghame Open Arts.
Nancy was a prolific, honest, and intuitive artist, and a kind, wise gem of a lady. She will be deeply missed by the art community, her family, and her many friends.
